Student Travel Awards

SIGIR Student Travel Awards

The SIGIR Student Travel Award Program (https://sigir.org/general-information/travel-grants/) offers funding to ACM SIGIR student members to help offset travel and lodging expenses for attending and contributing to SIGIR-AP 2025. The application link will be included in the paper notification email.
SIGIR is pleased to offer Student Travel Grants for students presenting their accepted contributions at SIGIR-AP 2025. For awardees, if attending in person, the grant will cover the cost of in-person registration and up to U$D 1,200 stipend towards travel and accommodation costs; for those attending online, it will cover the cost of registration.
Note that awardees may be asked to serve as student volunteers (i.e., they will be contacted directly by conference organizers to coordinate the details of this endeavour).

Eligibility

To be eligible, the student must:
  • be a student,
  • be an author of an accepted contribution,
  • be the one presenting the accepted contribution, and
  • be a SIGIR member (SIGIR student travel grants are only open to SIGIR members. If you are not, you can click here to join SIGIR).
These awards are competitive (i.e., not every applicant will receive a grant). Students presenting with accepted contributions on the main conference track, students from underrepresented countries, and students who have not received a grant in the past will be prioritized.

Application Procedure

To be considered for a grant, the student must apply, and their academic advisor must complete a statement of support (a link to the advisor will be sent directly as soon as the student provides all the information requested in their application).

Important Dates

  • Award Application Submission Deadline: September 28th, 2025 (AOE)
  • Award Acceptance Notification: October 10th, 2025 (AOE)
All deadlines are 11:59 pm AOE(anywhere on earth). Please do not register for the conference ahead of this date, as SIGIR Awards cannot reimburse you for the registration. If you receive a grant, international students will be provided with a code to waive the registration fee, while local students should indicate that they are student travel awardees on the registration link and provide a screenshot of their notification email.
